New Circular Walks Book for the Mendip Hills

Wednesday 4th November 2020

A new book of 12 circular walks around the Mendip Hills has been published including a brand new route that people have never been able to walk before.

Mendipity is the new book from local authors Les Davies MBE and Sue Gearing who have written other walking books for the area and have the regular feature in the Mendip Times.

The 12 walks range from short 3 mile routes up to 7 miles and span the length of the Mendip Hills with routes at Bleadon in the west right across to Faulkland and Nunney in the east.

The Yeo Valley Way is the exciting new route agreed by the authors and Yeo Valley across their land at Hazel Manor above Compton Martin. This is the first time people will have been able to see the woodland and the amazing views across the Chew Valley from this site. Tim Meade from Yeo Valley Organic, who are the major sponsor of the book, said, ‘Understanding this landscape is crucial. Everyone who comes to enjoy it should be aware of just what a treasure we have on our doorstep and the importance of looking after it’.

Each route has a map, clear directions with interesting facts and stories to interpret the landscape as you walk around it.

The book was also sponsored by the Mendip Hills AONB Unit and the Mendip Society. The book is available from gearings@BTinternet.com , the Mendip Times and other local outlets for £9.99 (plus P&P where applicable).
