Visitor Insight Forum 2026

Wednesday 14th October 2026

Visits are up, but why do people really come to the Mendip Hills, and how do we use this information to protect this nationally important area? Learn more about the visitor economy at the Visitor Insights Forum 2026, Friday 13th November, Wells Museum.

Visitor Insight Forum 2026

The Mendip Hills National Landscape Team is hosting the Visitor Insights Forum 2026, at the Wells & Mendip Museum on Friday 13th November, from 10 am until 3 pm. The event unlocks meaningful insights for anyone who runs a visitor-related business locally or works in access or nature protection around the Mendip Hills.

A specialist team from Footprint Ecology will be sharing the results of the major user survey in the Mendip Hills. This was the first survey of its kind, combining both face-to-face and online research with over 1000 people.

There will be a packed agenda throughout the day, with leading figures from the Mendip Hills representing businesses, organizations and experts who deeply understand the visitor economy in general, and especially within our landscape. Delivered through a series of micro insight sessions and keynote speeches.

Hear from Professor Terry Stevens, an international tourism consultant, and Dave Eddins from the Mendip Activity Centre, who will discuss the economic impact assessment of a large activity centre.  Mick Fletcher, chair of the Strawberry Line Society, will share insight from this growing attraction, and Mark Ford of Screen Somerset will discuss how we can capitalize on the growing film location market.

Jim Hardcastle, Manager at the Mendip Hills National Landscape Team, says; Many people use the Mendip Hills to enjoy the view, the wildlife and get a sense of adventure, and that’s really important for their health and wellbeing. But how do we balance this with recovering nature? We’ve spent this year gathering more data than we normally do to get ready for preparing a recreation strategy for the National Landscape. This event is important for sharing research and discussing the issues.’

It’s a great opportunity to learn, ask questions and network with people in the know who, alongside the presenters, have a deep understanding of working in the Mendip Hills. The team are really looking forward to seeing everyone who works hard to make this a wonderful place to live and work.

Tickets are available at Mendip Visitor Insights Forum 2026 Tickets, Friday, November 13  •  10 AM – 3 PM | Eventbrite
