Ash Dieback and Tree Planting Seminar

WHERE WILL ALL THE TREES GO?

We are holding a free seminar on the affects Ash Dieback could have on the Mendip Hills and then help plan some solutions for increasing woodland cover in the right places with the right trees.

The afternoon is for AONB Partnership members, local authority officers, conservation staff and people and groups that own land in the Mendip Hills AONB. Please share this invite amongst colleagues and contacts that will be interested.

The session will be 1:30pm – 3:30pm at the Mendip Alpine Lodge, part of the Snowsport Centre, Winscombe BS25 5PQ.

Many of the local authorities in the area have tree planting targets due to declaring climate and nature emergencies alongside the aim to increase woodland cover in all AONBs, but where should this new planting take place, what will be the right species to plant and how will this be funded?

Specialist speakers from the Woodland Trust, Somerset Wildlife Trust and the Forestry Commission will start the afternoon leading into workshops that will create an action plan.
